Should you choose to not follow a deity, agnosticism is an alternative. It is often the safest alternative to avoid faction problems, but it will not allow good races to enter evil race cities, or vice versa. There are a relatively small number of items that are restricted to a certain deity's worshippers, but these are hardly necessary equipment, and are almost all eclipsed by other gear. Priest classes (Cleric, Druid, and Shaman), Necromancers, and their related hybrid classes (Paladin, Ranger, Beastlord, and Shadowknight) may not be agnostic. (The exception is Vah Shir, who are ALL agnostic.) Iksar and Drakkin are required to worship their racial gods. All other characters may be agnostic.
